Esther Lelievre also known as Queen Mixxy (Brooklyn, NY) is a well-known, international media presence in music, culture, and on the Carnival circuit. Currently based in Brooklyn, NY, she is a part of the Haitian diaspora and frequently travels between Europe, across the US, and the Caribbean to produce cultural videos and music content. Her numerous Caribbean contacts help her connect with home-like, behind-the-scenes aspects of the cities she travels to, allowing her to access neighborhoods and come to people as they are to honor their deepest truths.
Queen Mixxy is shifting her attention to tourism in the Caribbean and its diasporas, working towards a segment that seeks out local communities in Jamaica, Barbados, London, and NY – among others – to discuss food, community, art, and music. She will be focusing on how Carnival is an inclusive celebration at the heart of many of these communities and how these events are accepting of all, never dubbing participants “not Haitian/American/English/Jamaican/etc. enough.” She will bring, in her own words, a “celebratory presence with a socially conscious mentality,” using her naturally vivacious personality and infectious joy to make her guests and viewers feel at home.
Queen Mixxy received BRIC's B Harmonious award Best Content in 2019, and has been featured on BRIC TV's Catching the Vibe at the New York Caribbean Carnival and VP Record's On The Riddim Show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LaPmFOVsCM. She is also WIADCA Social Media Ambassador for New York City Carnival. She has been featured in articles in the New York Times, the New York Daily News, and The New York Carib News.
